Norwegian consultant Norconsult AS has extended the deadline for bids in separate solicitations for construction, electro-mechanical equipment, and feed piping for the 5.6-MW Nye Folkedal hydroelectric project in Norway. Bids now are due June 6.
Norconsult originally called for bids by May 20. Nye Folkedal (New Folkedal) is to replace Hardanger Energi AS’s 950-kW Folkedal project, which was built in 1939 and upgraded in 1962, on the Folkedal River in Hordaland County, Norway.
In one solicitation, Norconsult seeks restoration of the existing dam and construction of a new 900-meter tunnel and power station, as well as drilling of a 330-meter shaft. The work is valued at 45 million kroner (US$8.3 million).

In a second solicitation, Norconsult seeks two Pelton turbines with synchronous generators, controls, two main stop valves, inlet pipes, a cooling water system, and electro-technical equipment for the dam. The contract also includes project management and administration, engineering design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning. The work is valued at 9.5 million to 14 million kroner (US$1.7 million to US$2.6 million).

In a third solicitation, Norconsult seeks two steel pipes through a concrete plug in a tunnel, an access pipe with gate through the concrete plug, a pipe rupture valve, two air valves, and a feed pipe. The work is valued at 3.5 million kroner (US$665,000).
