Burundi’s water and electric utility invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a geotechnical design review of the proposed dam for the 31.5-MW Jiji hydroelectric project on Burundi’s Jiji River. Responses are due April 4.
Regie de Production et de Distribution d’Eau et d’Electricite (REGIDESO) recruited dam engineers, hydrologists and geologists in March to perform independent review of the proposed dam. It also recruited dam design specialists in February for a similar review. REGIDESO recruited consultants in December to supervise tendering and construction of Jiji and the 16.5-MW Mulembwe hydro project and a related transmission line in Burundi’s Bururi Province.
REGIDESO now invites expressions of interest from individual consultants for geotechnical design review of Jiji Dam, including review of studies of consulting firm Fichtner, to evaluate the quality of the design of Jiji Dam and whether the design is consistent with accepted standards and local conditions. The work is expected to require 15 days in the period from April to May.
Expressions of interest, labeled “Ami pour le Recrutement d’un Consultant Individuel Geotechnicien pour la Revue Ponctuelle de la Conception du Barrage de Jiji,” are due to the address below by 10 a.m. April 4.
