Brazil’s mines and energy ministry invites expressions of interest from consultants to help initiate regional socio-economic development in the areas of hydroelectric projects in Brazil. Responses are due August 7.
A report on power projects in the Americas recently found that Brazil leads in expected investment in hydroelectric power. Some of the hundreds of hydroelectric projects proposed or under development in Brazil have been criticized as a threat to the livelihoods of native populations.
With World Bank financing, the Ministerio de Minas e Energia seeks a model for regional insertion of socio-economic structured businesses in areas of influence of hydroelectric project enterprises. The work is expected to require 360 days.
“Term of Reference No 25” may be obtained by Search from the ministry Internet site under http://www.mme.gov.br/mme/menu/projetos/Meta/ProcessosSeletivos.html.
Expressions of interest are due by delivery or mail to the address below by 6 p.m. August 7. Envelopes must be labeled “Meta Project – TDR No 25.”
