BC Hydro seeks wildlife mitigation, monitoring for Canada’s 1,100-MW Peace River Site C hydro project

Canadian utility BC Hydro seeks bids to provide wildlife mitigation and monitoring services for the construction phase of the 1,100-MW Peace River Site C hydroelectric project in British Columbia. Bids are due July 10.

BC Hydro took bids in March for site preparation on the north bank of the Peace River for the project. British Columbia Premier Christy Clark recently directed the province-owned utility to change the contract terms for Site C to allow unions to organize at the construction site. Susan Yurkovich resigned in April as BC Hydro executive vice president for Site C. (HydroWorld 5/1/15)

BC Hydro now seeks qualified biologists or wildlife technicians to provide general wildlife support to the project during construction and to assist in planning and initiating wildlife mitigation and monitoring programs. The utility plans to award a blanket contract with the scope of work to be defined through work orders issued from time to time as needed.
