India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corp. (NHPC) has awarded a contract to Alstom to supply turbines, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment for the 240-MW Uri 2 project being built on the Jhelum River in Jammu &Kashmir State.
The 4.08 billion rupee (US$91.3 million) contract calls for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of four 60-MW turbines, generators, auxiliaries, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, and 400-kilovolt switchyard equipment. The contract was signed January 25 by NHPC Chief Engineer (E&M)-III J.R. Chaudhary and Alstom Sales Director Yves Moulaas and General Manager (Sales) V.K. Sahni.
