New Market Intelligence Firm Focuses on Utility Automation

Two veterans of the energy and utility automation markets have formed a new market intelligence and consulting firm intended to help suppliers in the energy and utility markets successfully plan, execute and support their marketing strategies.

Mike Marullo of cfar International Ltd. and Mike Smith of KLN Group are teaming to establish the new venture, which they have named the InfoNetrix Market Intelligence Information Network.

“The full value of good market information has historically been under-appreciated by all but the largest energy and utility suppliers,” Marullo said. “Effective use of market research as a strategic planning tool pays big dividends when properly applied.”

Marullo said that clients of InfoNetrix will have access to timely, objective, technologically focused market intelligence on a regular basis throughout the year under an annual participation agreement that is the foundation of the new venture’s business model.

The initial focus of InfoNetrix will be on the electric utility automation markets, but there are plans to broaden the company’s market scope to include oil and gas, water/wastewater and municipal government markets in the future.

Marullo and Smith plan to provide InfoNetrix’s clients with periodic executive briefings, research reports, market news updates and proprietary consulting services throughout the year in a package that individual clients can customize to suit their specific needs.

“It’s like a cafeteria plan,” Smith said. “Clients get to choose the combination of products and services that fit their organization’s individual strategic and tactical market intelligence information requirements and budget.”

The target clientele for InfoNetrix includes energy and utility automation suppliers; major energy companies; electric, gas and water utilities; technical and financial consulting firms; and others with relevant market interests. Clients participating in InfoNetrix’ service suite will receive spring and fall market briefings, research reports and proprietary consulting services. The company also intends to provide periodic market updates and news bulletins throughout the year.
