Richmond, Virginia [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Intrinergy completed the acquisition of its joint-venture partner’s interest in Valorbois, a permitted renewable energy project in Belgium, and will begin construction of a facility to gasify wood to generate up to 4 megawatts (MW) of green electricity and 12 MW (approximately 41 MMBTUs per hour) of thermal energy. The power will be sold to a major utility, and the generated heat will be used by a wood pellet manufacturer co-located with the facility. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2007, with operations expected to begin in the second half of 2007. Intrinergy, which brings the power of leading renewable energy technologies to lower energy costs, designs, builds and operates gasification facilities that convert biomass feedstock into a clean-burning synthesis gas that can be used to generate heat, steam or electricity.
