Daniel Capers, Fuel Services Operations Manager at Sellafield Ltd, has become a manufacturing ‘Diplomat’.
The high flying manager was awarded The Diploma in Manufacturing at a graduation ceremony at The University of Manchester.
The Diploma in Manufacturing is quality assured by The University of Manchester and delivered by the prestigious Manufacturing Institute. It is designed to help manufacturers fast track their careers and boost productivity and profits in their companies.
Daniel was able to apply his Diploma project to introduce a Plant Operations Control Centre at Sellafield, enabling the operations team to review key performance indicators in a stand up meeting around visual display systems. This provides a snapshot of operations for all employees, while helping to inform and improve decision making.
Daniel Capers said: “The Diploma was ideally timed, for whilst developing and carrying out my role of operations manager, It helped me rationalise and be more thoughtful around decision making. It also assisted me in attempting to engage the workforce to create a continuous improvement culture within my facilities. Ultimately, myself and Sellafield Ltd have benefited from this training and I would recommend it to any current or budding operations managers.
