Voith Hydro names new director of marketing and sales

Voith Hydro has promoted Carl Atkinson to its Director of Marketing and Sales, following another internal promotion announced by the global hydropower technology manufacturer earlier this year.

Atkinson takes over for Stan Kocon, who was named Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Voith’s York office in October.

The company said Atkinson has more than 18 years of experience in the hydropower industry, including 17 spent at Voith. He most recently served as Segment Sales Manager for Hydro Modernization.

“Carl is an excellent choice to lead Voith’s marketing and sales team,” President and CEO Kevin Frank said. “Carl has the knowledge, experience and keen understanding of both Voith’s customer base and the hydropower market in general to make him an invaluable part of the Voith team. We look forward to Carl’s leadership in marketing and sales.”

Atkinson joined Voith as an associate field engineer in 1996. He moved into marketing and sales as an Offer Project Manager after 10 years in the field, managing internal requirements for proposals. In his most recent position, he has managed a small team to address customer needs and develop proposals in the modernization market segment.

Atkinson is a former chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Hydro Power Technical Committee, and has been a licensed professional engineer in the state of Pennsylvania since 2000.

He holds a Master’s in Engineering Management from Drexel University and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
