The Bureau of Reclamation plans to seek proposals to install controls for 26 generating units at Hoover Dam, Davis Dam, and Parker Dam hydropower plants on the Colorado River.
BuRec expects to issue a request for proposals about Jan. 26, with offers to be due 30 days later.
Work will be performed at 2,078.8-MW Hoover Dam in Arizona and Nevada, 255-MW Davis Dam in Arizona, and 120-MW Parker Dam in California. The contractor is to remove and dispose of equipment, and to install government-supplied equipment, including new cabinets, governor components, conduit, cabling, and wiring. The contractor also is to provide support during commissioning and testing of the new equipment.
The government anticipates awarding one indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract April 16 for a base year and four option years. Fixed-price task orders will be issued as each job is scheduled in coordination with outages of generating units. Each task order is expected to range from $25,000 to $100,000. The total contract value for all option periods is estimated to be $1 million to $5 million.
In October, BuRec awarded a $5.7 million contract to L&S Electric Inc. to help upgrade governors, protective relays, and unit control equipment on 26 large generators at the three powerhouses. (HNN 10/12/06)
