UPDATE – Mauritius extends bid deadline to build 350-kW Midlands

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) of Mauritius has extended the deadline for bids to design and build a 350-kW hydroelectric project at Midlands Dam on Grand River South East of the Indian Ocean island. Bids now are due May 20.

Bids originally were due May 6 for a design-build contract for a powerhouse and hydraulic plant at the toe of Midlands Dam in Mauritius’ Central Plateau. (HNN 3/23/09) The project also includes installation of a section of pipeline to connect to an existing pipeline and an interconnection piece to link an existing pipeline to the dam outlet.

Work is to include design, construction, and equipping of the hydro plant with a 350-kW Francis turbine, generator, control system, and substation.

Tender documents may be obtained from the CEB Internet site, https://ceb.intnet.mu. Bids in English are due by 1:30 p.m. May 20.
