UPDATE – EDP seeks equipment for 243-MW Picote 2 expansion project

National utility Energias de Portugal S.A. (EDP) seeks bids for generating equipment for the 243-MW Picote 2 hydroelectric project on Portugal’s Douro River. Bids are due May 2.

EDP plans to invest 130 million euros (US$170 million) on Picote 2, an expansion of the existing 231-MW Picote project, which has been in service since 1958. Commissioning is planned for 2011. It previously courted bidders for extensive work to construct the project over 54 months. (HNN 7/31/06)

In the current solicitation, the utility seeks a 243-MW/270-MVa turbine-generator group, command and control systems, and other equipment.

Bidding documents may be obtained in digital format from the address below for 2,500 euros (US$3,180).
