U.S. Department of Energy selects 37 recipients for Hydroelectric Production Incentive Program funding

The U.S. Department of Energy has selected 37 recipients for the latest round of funding under section 242 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the Hydroelectric Production Incentive Program.

This program provides funding for projects adding hydroelectric power generating capabilities to existing dams throughout the U.S. It is available for electric energy generated and sold for a specified 10-year period.

The recipients — for calendar year 2017 incentive payments — are:

  • Albany Engineering Corporation for two projects: Mechanicville Hydroelectric Project and Stuyvesant Falls Hydroelectric Project
  • Bell Mountain Hydro LLC for Bell Mountain Hydro
  • Boise-Kuna Irrigation District for Arrowrock Hydroelectric Project
  • The Bowersock Mills & Power Company for Expanded Kansas River Hydropower Project
  • C-Drop Hydro LLC for C-Drop Hydroelectric Project
  • Cottonwood Hydro LLC for Cottonwood Hydro
  • Delta-Montrose Electric Association for South Canal Hydro Project — Drops 1 & 3
  • Dorena Hydro LLC for Dorena Lake Dam Project
  • Eagle Creek Renewable Energy Holdings LLC for two projects: Indian River Power Supply Project and Rio Project
  • Energy Stream LLC for M.S.C. Hydro
  • Erie Boulevard Hydropower LP for three projects: Sherman Island Minimum Flow Unit 6, Sherman Island Unit 1 and Stewarts Bridge Minimum Flow Unit 2
  • Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative Inc. for Chester Diversion Hydroelectric Project
  • Jordan Hydroelectric Limited Partnership for Jordan Hydroelectric Project
  • Ketchikan Public Utilities for Whitman Lake Hydroelectric Project
  • Mahoning Creek Hydroelectric Company LLC for Mahoning Creek Hydroelectric Project
  • Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District for Carter Hydro
  • Oakvale Construction Co. Ltd. for Black Brook Hydroelectric Project
  • Puget Sound Energy Inc. for Lower Baker Unit 4
  • Riverside Investments LLC for two projects: Arena Drop Hydroelectric Facility and Fargo Drop Hydroelectric Facility
  • SAF Hydroelectric LLC for Lower St. Anthony Falls Hydroelectric Project
  • Saywatt Hydroelectric LLC for Mechanicsville
  • Shavano Falls Hydro LLC for two projects: Drop 4 Hydroelectric Facility and Shavano Hydroelectric Drop 6
  • St. Anthony Hydro LLC for St. Anthony Hydro
  • Swalley Irrigation District for Ponderosa Hydroplant
  • Tacoma Power for North Skokomish Power House
  • Tri-County Water for Tri-County Water Hydropower Plant
  • Tunnel Hill Hydro LLC for two projects: Buckeye Hydroelectric and Tunnel Hill Hydroelectric Plant
  • Turnbull Hydro LLC for Upper and Lower Turnbull Drop Hydroelectric
  • Wagon Wheel Associates Inc. for Humphreys Hydroelectric

The program is spearheaded by DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy and is open to project owners and operators that produced hydroelectric power from new equipment added to an existing dam or conduit constructed before 2005.
