Tanzania seeks consultants for program including 8-MW Malagarasi

Tanzania invites expressions of interest from environmental and resettlement specialists for an economic growth program that includes construction of the 8-MW Malagarasi hydroelectric project on the Malagarasi River. Responses to two solicitations are due May 25.

The U.S. government’s Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC) awarded a US$698 million grant to Tanzania to fund improvements to roads, power, and water supply, including the Malagarasi project. Tanzania set up a special entity to carry out the work, MCA-Tanzania.

The government of Tanzania awarded a contract in November to ESBI Engineering and Facility Management Ltd. of Ireland to provide engineering and construction supervision of construction of Malagarasi as well as transmission and distribution work, (HNN 11/11/08)

In the current solicitations, MCA-Tanzania invites expressions of interest from individual consultants:

o Resettlement Specialist MCAT/COM/0017: To provide technical support and expertise in review of resettlement plans, training of staff, and related resettlement issues.
