Pentagon Invests in New Energy Policies, Technologies

[UPI] The Defense Department has expressed an interest in maintaining a key role in investing in new energy policies and technologies, industry reports said. The Pentagon would use its military budget to fund many of the new energy production technologies and alternative fuels since various military installations consume large amounts of energy. The military hopes the initiative would increase the consumption of renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Thus far, the Defense Department has invested in biodiesel, ethanol and hydrogen fuels.
