Pakistan invites applications for expressions of interest for engineering design and tender preparation of the 28-MW Basho and 87-MW Phandar hydroelectric projects. Responses to separate solicitations are due March 10.
Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) issued similar solicitations for both projects in 2007. It said the government has approved feasibility studies for both projects.
The Basho project is to be built on the Basho River in Skardu District of Pakistan’s Northern Areas. (HNN 2/28/07) It would have a discharge of 3.5 cms and gross head of 949 meters.
The Phandar project is to be built on Pakistan’s Ghizar River, 700 meters downstream of Phandar Lake near Chhashi village. (HNN 6/12/07)
WAPDA said the detailed engineering design and preparation of tender documents for each project are to be undertaken by Pakistani consultants or a joint venture registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council.
Pre-qualification documents may be obtained for each project from the address below for 2,000 rupees (US$32). Expressions of interest for each project are due by noon March 10. WAPDA plans to invite short-lists of firms to submit proposals.
