Our October HYDRO+ free virtual training program covers the topic of drought in the U.S. and how hydroelectric project owners are dealing with the situation.
Hydro Review and HYDROVISION International host the monthly HYDRO+ webcast to provide the industry access to free training.
This month’s session takes place at 10:30 am central time on Oct. 13 and the subject is:
Market Trends and Asset Strategies: How U.S. Hydro Owners are Dealing with Drought
Large areas of the U.S., particularly the western part of the country, are dealing with significant drought conditions that have short- and long-term ramifications not just for hydroelectric power production but also for water delivery, environmental conditions (fish health and river connectivity) and potentially even dam safety.
During this session, our speakers will discuss the current situation regarding drought and hydropower. They will share how they are gathering data and tracking trends around hydrologic conditions and water supply/inflow, how major purposes such as electricity production and water delivery are affected, and what the long-term trend of climate change/global warming could mean for future operations.
Our expert speakers for this session are:
Birgit Koehler, Deputy Vice President for Power Generation Asset Management, Bonneville Power Administration (moderator)
David Raff, Chief Engineer, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
Lindsay Aramayo, Industry Economist, U.S. Energy Information Administration
The HYDRO+ monthly series of virtual events brings together the hydro community through live content and an engaging virtual experience for those looking for perspective and discussion on current and future issues affecting the hydroelectric power and dams markets.
Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance after the session is concluded. Click here to register.
In addition, all of the dozens of previously recorded HYDRO+ training sessions are available on demand, to be watched any time. So if these sessions don’t fit your training needs, there are plenty of others that do.
