India developer Reliance Power announced it will invest 120 billion rupees (US$2.5 billion) to develop four hydroelectric projects in India’s Arunachal Pradesh State totaling 2,520 MW.
Reliance told Indian media it was awarded concessions by Arunachal Pradesh to develop the four projects, 1,200-MW Kalai 2 on Lohit River, and 420-MW Amulin, 500-MW Emini, and 400-MW Mihundon, all on Mithun River.
The developer said it signed build-own-operate-transfer contracts with the state after winning competitive bids to develop the four projects. It said they are expected to be commissioned between 2012 and 2017.
Reliance said it already has begun construction of two other projects in Arunachal Pradesh, 700-MW Tato 2 and 1,000-MW Siyom.
