Before that, he was president and CEO of Southern Star Central Corporation, a transporter of natural gas. Staton also previously served as executive vice president and group CEO for NiSource Inc., a fully regulated utility company providing natural gas and electricity in seven states. In addition, he was senior vice president of Dominion Resources Inc. and president of asset operations for Consolidated Natural Gas Company.

Santee Cooper is South Carolina’s largest power producer, delivering electricity to 2 million people across the state. The company owns 5,338 MW of generation resources and has 471 MW of firm power contracts. Its owned portfolio includes coal, natural gas and oil, nuclear, hydropower and landfill methane gas.

Santee Cooper owns and operates the 140 MW Jefferies hydroelectric station, formerly Pinopolis. The Jefferies Hydroelectric Station represents the birthplace of Santee Cooper, as it was the first major project for the state-owned South Carolina electric and water utility. It also has a 2 MW Wilson Dam Generating Station. In addition, the company purchases hydropower from the Buzzards Roost, St. Stephens Hydro and the Southeastern Power Administration.

This utility executive roundtable will feature several C-level executives from electricity generating companies, discussing current hot topics for the global hydropower industry. The session is open to all attendees.
