The Hydropower Foundation will be holding its fourth Hiring for Hydro event in Seattle on Feb. 19.
The foundation says Hiring for Hydro will bring together 40+ students from 10 colleges in the Pacific Northwest to participate in an educational workshop about careers in hydropower, and then a special recruiting session. The event was established to address the hiring needs of the industry, build academic interest at the college level, and create a strong conduit between industry and regional schools.
Students who are interested in attending complete an online application. Each selected student will work with a mentor from the foundation on their resume.
During the event, students will be exposed to what a career in hydropower looks like, how to find jobs in the industry, and the process to obtain work within the union environment.
The Northwest Hydroelectric Association will host the students at a luncheon where they will have the opportunity to network with industry attendees of the NWHA Annual Conference. Students also can attend the NWHA welcome, hear from NWHA’s president Debra Smith, chief executive officer of Seattle City Light, and hear panel discussions on the importance of “Communicating around Hydro” and “Green and Clean the Grid and Hydro.” After the conference sessions, students will meet with recruiters, share resumes, work on their 30-second elevator speech and hear about job opportunities.
Beyond the event, the Hydropower Foundation says students will learn how to connect with employment in this exciting industry.
