Voith Hydro Brazil has been recognized as the best company in the Brazilian capital goods sector for the second consecutive year, the company announced.
The award, presented by economics and business magazine Exame, recognized Voith Hydro’s Brazilian subsidiary for the company’s “focus on innovation, productivity and technical quality, as well as human resource and project management.”
“This important award is an acknowledgement of our permanent commitment to Brazil,” said Osvaldo San Martin, President and CEO of Voith Hydro in Brazil. “We have continuously invested in the country, contributing with our solutions for the maintenance and expansion of a clean energy matrix.”
The Voith Group is nearing 50 years of local production in Brazil, though the company’s involvement in the country dates to 1905, when Voith provided equipment for the Itatinga hydropower plant.
Today, Voith said, nearly 50% of Latin America‘s current installed hydro power capacity comes from plants running Voith Hydro equipment.
“We are suppliers of complete solutions for the largest hydro power generation projects in the country and in Latin America — which are deemed strategic to ensure the supply of electrical energy and hence the region’s economic development and growth,” San Martin said.
