Fiji seeks bids for 43.9-MW Nadarivatu powerhouse, transmission

Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) seeks bids for construction of the powerhouse and transmission works for the 43.9-MW Nadarivatu hydroelectric project on an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) basis. Bids are due April 4.

FEA already is seeking bids by March 14 for EPC construction of Nadarivatu civil works, FEA/NHP-01, EPC Contract for Civil Works – MR 77/2007. (HNN 12/5/07) The proposed project includes a 35-meter-tall weir on the Sigatoka River catchment at Korolevu; 3.5 kilometers of tunnel and penstock, and a powerhouse on the Ba River containing two Pelton turbine-generators for a head of 300 meters.

Although it originally proposed tendering for a single contractor for the entire project, it changed plans instead to seek bids for two contracts. Bidders may bid for one or both contracts and may propose discounts in their letter of bid in case they should subsequently be awarded both contracts.

The current solicitation is FEA/NHP-02, EPC Contract for Powerhouse &Transmission Works MR 78/2007. It includes:
o Nadarivatu powerhouse, consisting of a concrete and steel building, penstock manifold, two 21.95-MW vertical Pelton turbine-generators, two 28-MVa generator transformers, 132-kV switchgear, and appurtenant facilities;
o Nadarivatu switchyard, adjacent to the existing Wailoa-Vuda 132-kV line, approximately five kilometers from the powerhouse, and consisting of 132-kV bus, five 132-kV transmission line bays, and a control building and appurtenant facilities;
o A double-circuit 132-kV transmission line from the powerhouse to the switchyard; and
o Other works as described in bid documents and project drawings on the FEA tender Internet site, www.evalua.com.au/fea.

Bid documents, in English, may be obtained from the address below by written application and payment of F$500 (US$322) by direct deposit to FEA bank account No. ANZBFJFX 2414942, ANZ Bank, Suva, Fiji Islands. The document will be sent by courier.

Bids are due by 2 p.m. April 4. For information, contact Tuvitu Delairewa, General Manager Corporate Services, Fiji Electricity Authority, Private Mail Bag, 2 Marlow St., Suva, Fiji; (679) 3224-185; Fax: (679) 3311-882; E-mail: [email protected]; Internet: www.fea.com.fj.
