Eleventh unit, 200-MW, sought for Luxembourg’s 1,100-MW Vianden

Luxembourg utility Societe Electrique de l’Our (SEO) seeks bids for civil works and equipment to add an 11th pump-turbine at the 1,100-MW Vianden pumped-storage project on Luxembourg’s Our River. Bids in two solicitations are due March 19.

SEO seeks a 200-MW generating unit for Vianden, first commissioned in 1964 on Luxembourg’s border with Germany.

In one solicitation, SEO seeks extension of physical facilities to accommodate the 11th unit, including excavation of the machine cavern, a vertical shaft, pressure tunnel, reservoir modification, and access to the new tunnel. The work is to require 48 months.

In the other solicitation, the utility seeks one 200-MW pump-turbine-generator, digital controls, a globe valve, a crane, and related equipment. Crane supply and installation is to require 24 months; the remaining equipment is to be supplied and installed over 48 months.

Tender documents for both solicitations may be obtained from the address below. Bids, in German, for each solicitation are due by 10 a.m. March 19.
