Idaho Power has received the inaugural Thomas F. Farrell, II Safety Leadership and Innovation Award in the Member Company Project category from the Edison Electric Institute (EEI).
Named after former Dominion Energy Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Farrell, who passed away in April 2021, the award recognizes the contributions of leadership and innovation to the advancement of safety in the energy industry. Farrell served in this role from 2007 to 2020. EEI will present the Thomas F. Farrell, II Safety Leadership and Innovation Award on an annual basis.
Recipients of the award are selected by a panel consisting of leadership from the labor, contractor and academic communities; regulatory agencies; and EEI senior leadership. Idaho Power was selected for its approach of combining psychological safety and behavioral safety with practical application of human performance principles.
“I applaud Idaho Power for its leadership and commitment to protecting the health and safety of its employees,” said EEI President Tom Kuhn. “Idaho Power’s continuous innovations have helped to shape health and safety education and many of the protocols used across our industry, and this award is well-deserved.”
Lisa Grow, president and CEO of IDACORP Inc. and Idaho Power, accepted the award on behalf of the company during EEI’s winter Board of Directors meeting, which was held virtually.
Idaho Power has been a locally operated energy company since 1916. It serves a 24,000-square-mile area in Idaho and Oregon. The company has a goal to provide 100% clean energy by 2045. Idaho Power has 17 low-cost hydroelectric projects at the core of its diverse energy mix.
