EDP Brasil completes sale of two small hydro plants

EDP – Energias do Brazil S.A. (EDP Brasil) has finalized the sale of two small hydro plants in Brazil.

As reported by SeeNews, Pantanal Energetica Ltda., which owns and operates the 29-MW Assis Chateaubriand (Mimoso) and 22-MW Paraiso I plants in Mato Grosso do Sul state, was sold to Cachoeira Escura Energetica S.A.

The transaction was valued at BRL390 million (US$90.1 million).

EDP Brasil signed a sale and purchase agreement for this transaction in July 2015. At that time, the company reported it expected the conclusion of the transaction to occur by the end of the first quarter of 2016.

EDP Brasil is a subsidiary of Energias de Portugal. It generates, distributes and sells electric energy in nine Brazilian states, with 2.3 GW of installed capacity.
