The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a technical audit of consulting engineering services to its hydropower marketing program. Responses are due October 20.
DRC recruited a civil engineer in 2012 to be responsible for project-related technical studies and to supervise the work of contractors on the project to develop electricity markets for domestic use and export, Projet de Developpement des Marches d’Electricite pour la Consommation Domestique et a l’Export (PMEDE), and the hydropower-based Southern Africa Power Market Project (SAPMP).
DRC is developing its Congo River hydroelectric resources and several proposed medium-sized hydro projects in the DRC, including refurbishment of the 350-MW Inga 1 and 1,424-MW Inga 2 hydro projects and development of the 4,800-MW Inga 3 Basse Chute as a step toward development of a 42,000-MW Grand Inga hydroelectric complex.
The steering committee for reform of the state enterprises portfolio now seeks consultants for a technical audit of technical assistance contracts for execution of PMEDE and SAPMP projects including a performance evaluation of the consulting engineer, diagnosis of its organization and analysis of total cost of the mission. The work is expected to require 52 days.
