Burundi’s water and electricity utility invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform pre-feasibility and feasibility studies of ten proposed hydroelectric project sites. Responses are due February 9.
The World Bank’s International Development Association approved a US$50 million grant in 2008 for Burundi’s multi-sectoral water and electricity infrastructure program. Under that program, the Ministere de l’Eau de l’Energie et des Mines already is recruiting a financial management consultant, with responses due January 26. (HNN 1/20/09)
In the current solicitation, Burundi’s water and electricity utility, Regie de Production et de Distribution d’Eau et d’Electricite (REGIDESO), seeks consultants to conduct a comparative analysis of ten similar hydro project sites, including documentation and visits to the sites.
The consultant is to develop pre-feasibility studies of the four best sites, and a feasibility study, detailed preliminary project draft, and solicitation documents for the two best sites. The work is to require 12 months beginning April 15.
Expressions of interest and qualifications, labeled “Manifestation d’Interet pour Etude de Prefaisabilite et de Faisabilite d’Amenagements Hydroelectriques de Dix Sites au Burungi,” are due by 11 a.m. February 9 to the address below. REGIDESO said it plans to develop a short list of six firms for further consideration.
