Burundi extends call for financial manager of water, power program

Burundi’s water, energy, and mines ministry has extended its call for expressions of interest for financial management consulting to its water and electricity infrastructure program. Responses now are due February 6.

The ministry originally called for responses by January 26. (HNN 1/20/09) The World Bank’s International Development Association approved a US$50 million grant in 2008 for the program, which includes financing for feasibility studies of small hydropower projects. (HNN 5/15/08)

The program is to increase access to water in the Bujumbura area, improve electricity and water quality and reliability in the region, and strengthen the water and electric utility, Regie de Production et de Distribution d’Eau et d’Electricite (REGIDESO).

REGIDESO seeks consultants to handle budgets and financial reporting, follow financial execution of contracts, and to ensure application of management and audit procedures.
