Bucher appointed CFO of electricity provider Alpiq

Thomas Bucher will become chief financial officer of Swiss electricity provider Alpiq in April 2015. Bucher also replaced Patrick Mariller as a member of the company’s executive board.

Previously, Bucher was CFO and a member of the executive management board for gategroup Holding AG, an airline catering company. Before that, he was a financial controller fir Ciba-Geigy (Ciba Specialty Chemicals).

“With Thomas Bucher, Alpiq has gained a CFO with an excellent track record,” says Jasmin Staiblin, chief executive officer of Alpiq. “Thanks to his wide-ranging international experience in finance, he will make an important contribution to the transformation of the Alpiq Group.”

Alpiq is building the 900-MW Nant de Drance pumped-storage plant and the new 240-MW power station at the 240-MW Veytaux site. Nant de Drance is expected to become operational in stages, starting in 2018.

Alpiq is a Swiss electricity and energy services provider that is active in electricity production, as well as energy trading and sales. In total, the company owns one hydroelectric power plants in France, three in Italy, two in Norway and 35 in Switzerland.
