India developer Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVN) seeks bids for studies and tender preparation for development of Nepal’s 402-MW Arun 3 hydroelectric project. Bids are due May 7.
The government of Nepal awarded a development contract in March 2008 to SJVN, a joint venture of India’s Himachal Pradesh State and India’s federal government to develop Arun 3 on Nepal’s Arun River. The developer took applications for pre-qualification for studies and tender preparation in January. (HNN 1/14/09)
SJVN is authorized to arrange funding and develop the estimated US$860 million project over five years and to operate it for 30 years on a build-own-operate-transfer basis in Nepal’s Shankhuwasabha District.
The developer seeks a consultant for preparation and review of a feasibility study report, bankable detailed project report, bid-level drawings, engineering, bill of quantities, bid document, and environmental impact assessment. Work includes associated investigations such as a topographical survey, geological investigation, and geophysical studies.
Bid documents may be obtained until May 6 from the address below for 20,000 India rupees or US$410, plus 500 rupees (US$10) for delivery. The documents are available on SJVN’s Internet site, www.sjvn.nic.in, and on http://tenders.gov.in with the fee payable with the bid submission.
