Ayres Associates announces plans to purchase SAA Design Group

Ayres Associates, an engineering and architecture firm that works in the hydroelectric power industry, has signed a letter of intent to purchase planning and design firm SAA Design Group.

The firms, both based in Wisconsin, have teamed on several projects.

Ayres provides a variety of services, including architecture, construction, environmental, general civil, geospatial, structural design and inspection, land surveying, traffic engineering, transportation engineering and water resources.

Hydropower projects Ayres has worked on include the 7-MW High Falls plant, where Ayres assisted with the design of a toe berm needed to solve seepage and slope stability problems and provided technical assistance during construction.

SAA provides place-based design solutions for a broad range of public, private, institutional, corporate and civic clients.

The acquisition is scheduled to be completed in early 2015. SAA’s office will remain at its current location in Madison, Wis., and will become Ayres’ 13th U.S. office and its sixth in Wisconsin.
