Application window open for Julie Keil Scholarship for Women in Hydropower

Chelsee Brumback

The Hydropower Foundation is seeking applications for the Julie Keil Scholarship for women in hydropower for 2023.

The Julie A. Keil Women in Hydro Scholarship fund seeks to honor Julie and her legacy by supporting women who aspire to a career related to hydropower and share her characteristics: leadership, energy, courage, strength, enthusiasm and persistence.

The scholarship supports women enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical school program majoring in a discipline relevant to working with hydropower. The scholarship will be based primarily on how the candidate reflects Julie’s characteristics but will also consider merit and financial need. In addition, grants will be made to the award recipient(s) to assist with expenses to attend an industry event where the award will be presented.

“Julie Keil was a major force and recognized as a leader for change in the hydropower industry. Her highest personal priority was to raise two thoughtful and independent young women empowered with education and personal character. Providing financial assistance to support and encourage the entry of women into the hydropower field is right out of the Julie Keil playbook,” said John Suloway, now with Gomez and Sullivan Engineers.
