Global supplier Andritz Hydro has signed contracts to provide equipment for three hydroelectric projects in Brazil and Nicaragua, the company’s Austrian headquarters announced this week.
The contracts have a combined value of about US$77.6 million and include orders for the 1,676-MW Governor Bento Munhoz da Rocha Netto plant in Brazil, and 50-MW Centroamerica and 50-MW Carlos Fonseca plants in Nicaragua.
Andritz said it is to supply four new Francis runners, and speed and voltage regulators for the Governor Bento Munhoz da Rocha Netto plant by 2022. The project is being developed by Compahia Paranaense de Energia (Copel) on Brazil’s Iguacu River.
Meanwhile, Andritz will supply switchgears, main transformers, medium- and low-voltage equipment, and protection, excitation, control and automation systems for Centroamerica and Carlos Fonseca. The company will also provide repairs to spherical valves, butterfly valves and gates.
Centroamerica and Carlos Fonseca are being developed by Empresa Nicaraguense de Electricidad (Enel), which solicited bids for the work in June.
