Alstom of France signed contracts to equip three Chinese hydroelectric projects during a visit to China by French President Jacques Chirac.
Chief Executive Patrick Kron signed agreements for Alstom worth 100 million euros (US$127.5 million) to equip the 1,200-MW Hohhot and 1,200-MW Pushihe pumped-storage projects and the 400-MW Longkou hydroelectric project.
Alstom said October 26 it signed a contract with Dongfang Electrical Machinery Co. to supply the main equipment, including four 300-MW turbine-generators, for the Hohhot plant in Inner Mongolia.
The French-based company signed with Harbin Power Equipment Co. to equip the Pushihe plant in Liaoning Province, which also has four 300-MW units.
Alstom signed with JME Engineering Co., for the Yellow River Wanjiazhai Hydro Corp., to supply equipment including four 100-MW turbine-generators for Longkou in Shanxi Province.
