Baker Botts earns top rankings, wins top energy awards in 2015

International law firm Baker Botts LLP has received top energy rankings issued by major independent law firm rating publications for 2015, the firm announced.

Baker Botts’ energy practice earned the highest ranking in the following Chambers Global categories: Globally — Projects & Energy: Oil & Gas (Band 1); U.S. — Energy: Oil & Gas (Band 1); U.S. — Projects: Oil & Gas (Band 1); Russia — Energy & Natural Resources (Band 1); and U.K. — Energy & Natural Resources (Oil & Gas) (Band 1).

Baker Botts also received the highest rating in Chambers USA in National — Projects: LNG (Band 1).

Chambers USA also ranked four firm partners Band 1 in their energy practice categories: National — Projects: LNG, Steven Miles; Energy: Oil & Gas (Regulatory & Litigation), Thomas Eastment; Energy: Electricity (Transactional), William Lamb; and Texas — Energy: State & Regulatory Litigation (Electricity), James Barkley.

In addition, in April, Global Energy Litigation Practice Group partner and co-chair Bill Kroger was recognized as an Energy & Environmental Trailblazer by the National Law Journal. For this edition, the National Law Journal chose 50 energy lawyers who have been at the forefront of “moving the needle” in addressing the evolving legal challenges of the energy industry.

Baker Botts similarly established its position as one of the leading law firms in the energy industry in this year’s Legal 500 US Awards, by winning in the exceedingly competitive category of Industry Focus — Energy.

In addition, in the Legal 500 US 2015 book, the firm garnered a prestigious dual Tier 1 ranking in both Energy: Transactional and Energy: Litigation. Furthermore, firm partner Steven Miles was named a “Leader” for his work in the legal energy space.
