Applications accepted for Outstanding Stewards of America’s Waters

WASHINGTON 10/6/10 (PennWell) — The National Hydropower Association is taking applications until Dec. 1 for the 2012 Outstanding Stewards of America’s Waters Award.

NHA presents the awards to organizations for initiatives that deserve special national recognition in the categories of operational excellence; public education; and environmental, recreational, or historical enhancement. Up to three awards are presented for each category.

Applicants must submit one hard copy and nine electronic versions on CD by Dec. 1 to National Hydropower Association, Attn.: 2012 NHA OSAW Awards, 25 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Suite 450, Washington DC 20001. Winners are to be notified in February 2012 with awards presented during the 2012 NHA Annual Conference April 16-18 in Washington.

NHA named seven Outstanding Stewards of America’s Waters in 2011:
o    Operational Excellence, Ameren Missouri and Grant County Public Utility District;
o    Public Education, Brookfield Renewable Power and Turlock Irrigation District;
o    Recreational, Environmental, and Historical Enhancement, Portland General Electric Co., South Carolina Electric & Gas Co., and Puget Sound Energy.
