Wholesale power supplier and services provider, American Municipal Power Inc. (AMP), announced the promotion of Adam Ward to senior vice president of member services and external affairs, adding him to AMP’s Executive Management Team.
Ward most recently served as vice president of environmental affairs, sustainability and energy policy.
In his new role, Ward will oversee AMP’s business and economic developments, sustainability initiatives, communications, government relations, technical services and member programs.
This role also includes leading the safety of the corporate environment and the North American Electric Reliability (NERC) compliance activities.
Ward joined AMP in February 2016, previously serving as assistant chief of the Air Pollution Control Division with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), whom he was employed for 20 years.
The emphasis of his work is air pollution and energy, strategic policy analysis, development and implementation.
“Adam is an integral part of AMP’s member services, external affairs, advocacy and policy efforts,” said Jolene Thompson, AMP President/CEO. “His unique perspective and leadership will allow him to effectively tackle the challenges of an ever-changing industry. He is a strong addition to the organization’s executive management team as we continue to provide industry-leading services to our members.”
Ward holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental health from Bowling Green State University; a master’s degree in environmental, safety and emergency management from the University of Findlay; and is a Certified Public Manager through the Ohio University John Glenn School of Public Affairs.
