AEP to Build Network

One of North America`s largest investor-owned utility companies, American Electric Power (AEP), has agreed to purchase several million dollars in SONET transport equipment from Nortel to build a powerful communications network for both internal use and capacity resale. AEP plans to deploy its network over the next two years in its service territory throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee. The AEP agreement with Nortel includes S/DMS TransportNode OC-48, OC-12 and OC-3 Express systems, and Nortel`s integrated network management broadband products.
