Electric Vehicle Charging Unit
Siemens has a new charging unit for electric vehicles according to IEC standard. With VersiCharge, electric vehicles can be charged quickly, safely and cost-effectively. Compared to the previous model, the charging unit has a more compact design. It meets the higher protection class IP 56 and thus can also be installed in outdoor areas. VersiCharge features integrated DC residual current detection. Users can pre-set the beginning of the charging process in two-hour intervals, between two and eight hours. This allows them to take advantage of economical electricity rates outside of peak periods and to significantly lower electricity costs. Owners of electric vehicles can also make targeted use of their own generated energy, e.g. from solar panels, thus optimizing their power consumption. VersiCharge is suitable for use in a private and semi-private environment, such as in garages, carports and on hotel and company parking lots. The VersiCharge is available in a single-phase version for rated currents of 20 amps (A) and 32 A, as well as in a three-phase version for a rated current of 32 A.

Intelligent Control of Energy Software
Virtual Power Systems, creators of Software Defined Power (SDP) announced a new release of its Intelligent Control of Energy (ICE®) software application suite with additional capabilities to transform power delivery in data center and cloud environments. ICE is a software-based power control platform that intelligently and dynamically distributes and manages power in data centers with constant awareness of power consumption needs across the entire topology. Utilizing machine learning and predictive analytics to unlock trapped and underutilized power, this solution drives aggressive vertical and rack-powered density, enabling 2:1 rack consolidation. The ability to halt rack sprawl through consolidation while increasing power density can slash annual costs of a production IT rack by more than half, while driving increased capacity and revenue for data center operators. ICE can monitor and orchestrate power consumption of thousands of SDP-compatible devices within the data center while leveraging machine learning algorithms to predict short-term changes and identify stranded capacity based on historical usage patterns. As a result, ICE policies sent to hardware devices can dictate power consumption or delivery within milliseconds for dramatic improvements in IT workload scheduling and orchestration.
