Nevada, United States [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] Windspire Energy Inc., formerly Mariah Power Inc, announced that it has successfully completed a new round of financing. The latest round was led by current investors Noventi Ventures, Greenhouse Capital Partners and Big Sky Partners. The funds will be used primarily for general corporate purposes, continuing research and development efforts and underwriting the international launch of the Windspire later this year.
This announcement follows recent major announcements from the company, including a name change from Mariah Power and the execution of a new long-term supply agreement with a Michigan manufacturing company.
“We continue to see great potential for the Windspire,” said Giacomo Marini, chairman of the board of Windspire Energy and managing director of Noventi Ventures. “There is a tremendous market opportunity, especially internationally, for this innovative small wind product.
The company also announced in March that Adobe had completed the installation of 20 Windspire wind turbines at its San Jose, California, campus. The new Windspires are located on Adobe’s sixth–floor patio, which doubles as a rooftop garden and recreational area above an office parking garage.
The patio sits between Adobe’s three office towers, which create a wind tunnel effect from sustained winds off the Pacific Ocean. Each Windspire is 30-feet-tall, 4-feet wide, and weighs 650-pounds. The propeller-free, vertical-axis wind turbine can harness wind power in urban, suburban and rural locations.
