Wind Turbine Construction Begins in Toronto

June 10, 2002 [] Cement has been poured to set a 6,000 kilogram tube anchor in place for the first wind turbine in the City of Toronto, also the first downtown wind turbine in Canada. Representatives of the joint venture partners building the turbine, Toronto Hydro Energy Services Inc. and the Toronto Renewable Energy Co- operative, were at the site to present Exhibition Place with checks for the security deposit and the first year of rent for property for the turbine.
