[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Waves at the east bank of Nan-Ao Island shore meet the land with about 3 kW of power per meter, making it a perfect location for a wave energy project, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion. The Guangdong Commission of Science and Technology and the Nan-Ao County Wind Energy Development Company are supporting the 100 kW installed capacity project. The project shall supply electricity to the local power network. Design and construction technology of the wave energy project are still being developed by the Academy, which is studying the magnitude, form and randomness of the shore’s wave load. Researchers are also developing safety measures to keep the station from being damaged by the waves it is trying to generate power from.
