Waste-to-Power Plants Growing in Australia

May 29, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Energy companies in Australia are developing power generation from methane gas, derived from refuse. The Queensland-based company Energy Development plans to spend $A140 million (US$78 million) to develop a 360 MW facility near Wollongong in New South Wales. The refuse station there generates some 4,500 ton of refuse per day – more than 1.2 million tons per year.
