Waste-to-Power Plant Slated for Beijing

May 28, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] The Spanish government has agreed to loan US$45 million to China for a waste-fueled power power plant project to be built in Beijing. The project was approved in 2000 but suspended for two years for financial and environmental reasons. Investment in the project is expected to total RMB 680 million (US$82.13 million) with the U.S.-based Golden State Group Corp. investing the remaining US$37.13 million. The garbage power plant is expected to be put into full operation by 2008 when the Olympic Games will be held in Beijing.
