Update On BC Wind From Finavera

Finavera Renewables Inc. has released an operational update on approximately 300 megawatts (MW) of wind projects it intends to submit into the upcoming BC Hydro Clean Power Call. The capacity will come from four proposed projects to be located in the Peace Region of northeast British Columbia.

More detailed proposals are due to be submitted in late November but according to preliminary documents, the Bullmoose project at up to 75 MW, the Meikle project at up to 160 MW in two phases, the Wildmare project at 80 MW and the Tumbler Ridge project at 90 MW, will make up the submitted portfolio.

Finavera is in negotiations with turbine manufacturers for the supply of machines for the projects. The Clean Power Call Request for Proposals (RFP), released by BC Hydro in June targets up to 5 TWh hours of renewable energy per year from larger-scale projects using proven technologies.
