Sun Power & Geothermal Energy Changes Name to SPG Solar

In conjunction with an expansion of the company, solar project systems integrator Sun Power & Geothermal Energy Co., Inc., has changed its name to SPG Solar, Inc. (SPG).

“As SPG moves into its next stage of growth, acquiring and developing major energy projects not just throughout California, but well beyond California and U.S. borders, our exclusive focus on solar energy will be invaluable in building our brand,” said Dan Thompson, SPG’s President & CEO. “The new name illustrates our company’s future while respecting its past.” SPG has two ancillary companies: SPG Solar International, to build projects for customers overseas, and Thompson Technology Industries, a proprietary solar products company that manufactures and sells specialty solar goods to professional installers. “We don’t want any confusion in the marketplace about who we are and what we do,” continued Thompson. “Sun Power & Geothermal Energy has been known in the industry for a long time as ‘SPG,’ so we decided to make it official, as part of rethinking our strategy and sharpening our focus and brand as we expand.” With no change of ownership or management, the same team will stay together and continue to focus on the northern California solar PV market as well as expand into the southern California market with projects planned in San Diego. The company statement added that it is in-contract for a multi-megawatt project in Asia.
