Solar Power 2006 Plans on Record Attendance

Solar Power 2006, which will focus on new and innovative developments in the solar industry, is ramping up, with pre-registration at seven times more than last year’s show, and twice the number of exhibitors to take up more than three times the space at the San Jose Convention Center from October 16 to 19.

“Riding on the wave of strong industry growth trends, conference pre-registration numbers are surging and we are seeing strong participation from players outside the traditional solar chain” said Julia Judd, conference chair and executive director of Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), which is co-organizing the show with the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). “The U.S. market, anchored by the California Solar Initiative and other state programs, is poised for a decade of robust growth,” said Rhone Resch, SEIA president and co-organizer. “Solar Power 2006 will bring together the visionaries, innovators, and capital sources needed to make this growth a reality.” Almost half of this year’s pre-registered attendees are considered outside the traditional “solar chain” of manufacturers, distributors, and installers, said Judd, which includes “utilities, raw material suppliers, financiers, homebuilders, start-ups, and large end-users.” In addition to a mix of 167 exhibitors representing solar technologies, business models, and global companies, the show will offer keynote speakers who are leaders in the solar industry, manufacturer training sessions on solar products, and an opportunity to network with more than 4,000 attendees who are customers, business partners, or policymakers representing the solar industry around the world.
