Small Hydro Projects Get Green Light from Scottish Government

Four small hydro projects near Loch Lomond with a combined generating capacity of 6.7 megawatts have been approved by the Scottish Government.

The project site lies north of Loch Lomond and is entirely within the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, local media reports indicate.

Construction company Osspower Ltd. previously had submitted applications to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority to construct and operate the four hydroelectric projects, local media reported.

The planning authority raised no objections to the applications, subject to a number of conditions.

Scotland’s environmental regulator supported the application subject to the imposition of conditions in order to protect the water environment, reports indicate.
