SKF announces availability of machine condition monitor
SKF Reliability Systems introduces its Machine Condition Advisor, a hand-held device used to simultaneously measure vibration signals and temperature.
It measures bearing activity for changes in vibration and temperature, the company says. Measurements from the device can be used to indicate machine health or bearing damage and provide early warning of machine problems, SKF says.
The monitor simultaneously measures vibration signals from 10 to 1000 Hertz and temperature from minus 20 to 200 degrees Celsius, and displays metric or English units.
The device displays an “alert” or “danger” alarm when vibration exceeds established bearing vibration guidelines.

JW Fishers sonar features adjustable transducers
JW Fishers Mfg Inc. offers side-scan sonar technology that features adjustable transducers. This allows users to change the angle of the transducers to provide a clear image of a vertical surface, such as the face of a dam, the company says.
Side-scan sonar system
The transducers on the company’s side-scan towfish sonar can be adjusted by rotating the tail section of the towfish. Scan images produced using the sonar can be recorded on the hard drive of a computer, allowing for later review of the images, the company says. Images can be displayed using ten different scan ranges and eight color schemes, JW Fishers says.
