Rochester Buys 8 MW from Renewable Energy

[] Under a two-year power supply contract agreement between the City of Rochester, New York and Constellation NewEnergy, the company will supply 8 MW of peak load to the city, expected to save the city more than $450,000 over the contract period. Fifteen percent of the electric load will be supplied through Constellation NewEnergy’s Green-e certified ElectricGreen product, plus Rochester’s City Hall will be supplied by 100 percent green energy. Constellation NewEnergy’s ElectricGreen product offers electricity from low-polluting sources including wind, solar, hydro, and biomass generating facilities. The direct environmental impact of this partnership is the equivalent of removing 1,600 vehicles from the roads.
